You’ve just struck an amazing five-iron shot right on the green, inches from the hole. You stroll up beaming, confident that this simple tap-in will be the birdie you’ve been waiting for all day. You don’t even need to take your time on this one. You casually swing back your putter and… miss.

This, in short, is golf. Wonderful one minute, dreadful the next. So why are you still smiling? Well, that’s because this isn’t your typical round. You are soaking in the sun on the fairways and greens at Moon Palace Cancun.

And in Cancun, you’ll still be smiling after a wayward drive or pitch into the bunker. With spectacular courses and dreamlike weather, it is a literal golfer’s paradise. Here are five sure-fire ways for a “hole-in-one” golf vacation in Cancun.

With average temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and limited rainfall, any day is the perfect day to set a tee time to golf in Cancun.

Golfing Jewel of the Caribbean

Did you know Cancun is home to one of Golf Digest magazine’s Best All-Inclusive Golf Resorts? Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, Moon Palace Cancun Golf Course, located at the Moon Palace Resort, is a 7,165-yard, 72-par golf course boasting lush native vegetation and wetlands.

In typical Nicklaus design, it is both challenging and open with selectively placed bunkers and water features. The 17th -- a par-3, 151-yard hole --  sees golfers hit onto an island green with the winds of the Caribbean at their back. Just down the road from Moon Palace is Riviera Golf Course, another Nicklaus design. Completed in 2008, Riviera cleverly incorporates the natural reserve that surrounds the golf course and even offers up scenic ocean views for duffers on the 14th and 15th holes.

Tee time any time of the Year

With average temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and limited rainfall, any day is the perfect day to set a tee time to golf in Cancun. The temperate climate in Cancun feeds the area’s lush tropical surroundings, giving golfers unique vista they can’t see at their local course.

Watch How the Pros Do It

You can see the real thing in action at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in nearby Playa del Carmen, the first PGA Tour event played outside the United States or Canada. The event will be held from November 5 - 11, 2018 at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón Golf Club. Boasting a purse of  $7,200,000 and an invitation to the Masters for its winner, the OHL Classic draws more than 125 of the world’s best golfers.

So tee it up extra high and swing for the fences. Or put some fire behind that 40-yard putt that you typically just try to get close. In Cancun, the ocean breeze, sunshine and smell of the manicured greens will quickly erase the memory of any shot and have you bouncing to the next tee box.
