The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun Served Up by Ellen.
Hundreds Win The Grand Stay Thanks to Ellen
“You get a car. And you get a car. And you, and you, and you!” By now, those famous giveaways on daytime talk shows are the stuff of legend. Oprah Winfrey may have started it, but Ellen DeGeneres has kept the tradition going strong.
Making History, One Stay at a Time
On Apri, 27, Ellen made her own history with perhaps the “grandest” giveaway of them all on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. After teasing a 150+ crowd with a veritable cornucopia of eclectic gifts – Beats headphones, tech-smart coffee mugs, hoverboards and a variety of gift cards – as part of her first ever “12 Days of Giveaways in April,” Ellen lowered the gift-giving boom at the climax of the show.
Saving the Best for Last
With her trademark deadpan delivery, Ellen informed the crowd what would be the grand prize as the stage revealed an oversized image of the Caribbean's newest and most talked about all-inclusive resort.
“I was thinking maybe you’d like a 5-day, 4-night vacation at a world class resort,” said Ellen. “It is an all-inclusive, luxury resort that just opened last month that features a water park, 7 pools, 10 restaurants, 11 bars, two night clubs, a gorgeous spa. You are all going to The Grand at Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico!”
The scene that followed was pure mayhem as a Beatlemania-type frenzy erupted among the crowd of New Yorkers who had been flown by Ellen to Los Angeles for the show. There was shaking, jumping, yelling, crying and all manner of histrionics.
The celebration may have actually upstaged an earlier guest on the show – none other than Kim Kardashian. And that’s saying something.
