Seeing The Best of Jamaica From Horseback

Presented by Palace Resorts

There's more to Jamaica than meets the eye, even if there is so much to see. The island country is known for its picturesque coastlines, cascading waterfalls, and splendid mountain ranges – these are the natural wonders that nourish Jamaica's tourism industry and keep travelers coming back for more.

But beauty in the land of wood and water also lies in the backcountry pathways and cerulean waters of Ocho Rios, a resort town on the north coast of Jamaica.

There’s no better way to experience nature and the sea than to embark on a horseback riding adventure and explore the trails and waves of Ocho Rios.

Traipse through verdant pastures and along scenic cliffs to Papillon Cove, where scenes from notable movies such as "Papillon," "Return to Treasure Island," and "Passion and Paradise" were filmed. Learn more about the town and country's rich history and spot native flora on your way to the shore.

Then, prepare to take it up a notch as you ride bareback into the warm Caribbean Sea – an exceptional and invigorating ride of a lifetime.

It's a fascinating journey traveling through Jamaica, but feeling the surge of horsepower through the waters of the Caribbean is a riveting experience you wouldn't want to miss.

The Jungle and the Sea

Ride Along Trails and Into the Caribbean Sea

The adventure starts at the Chukka Cove Farm located in the historic parish of Saint Ann , also known as the "Garden Parish of Jamaica" due to its natural floral beauty. Saddle up on a horse and pass through trails of lush foliage, stonewashed cliffs, and breathtaking ocean views.

After the tranquil trail, you'll reach the Caribbean shores where the thrilling ride begins. Feel the rush of excitement as your horse powers through the Caribbean waters for a swim. The experience has often been described as one of the most exciting experiences of riders’ lives.

Fun Family Ride

Experienced guides share their extensive knowledge about the surrounding area and provide insight into Jamaica's culture and history along the way.

Although you'll be on your own horse, the Horseback Ride and Swim Adventure run by Chukka Tours is a fun-filled experience for everyone – couples, friends, and families alike. Groups or families stay together while on tour.

Worry not if you're a first time rider and have no horseback riding experience. The guest-to-guide ratio ensures that each guide is able to interact with and help smaller groups. Children as young as six years old can go on the ride.

For guests staying at the nearby Moon Palace Jamaica in the heart of Ocho Rios, you can be on horseback 20 minutes after enjoying a hearty breakfast.
