Whether you’re on the look for a new sporting challenge or just ramping up your reputation as the consummate spectator, Cabo offers year-round events that will satisfy your competitive nature.

In anticipation of the opening of Le Blanc Los Cabos in November, here is a look at the sporting calendar that has turned what already is a world-renowned destination into a sportsman’s paradise.

Though best known as resort town with luxurious accommodations, Los Cabos provides adventure and excitement for avid sportsmen in great supply.

Serving Up Top-Tier Tennis Action

Get some prime hard-court action at the second edition of the Los Cabos Open (July 31–August 5), where Croatian Singles champion Ivan Karlovic will try to defend last year’s title against his peers from the ATP circuit.

This top-flight tourney, which also counts with 36th ranked Spaniard Feliciano Lopez who lost to Karlovic in the final last year, is quickly becoming a favorite amongst Tennis experts and casual aficionados alike. For a full schedule of events, click here.

Taking it to the Sea

Save those tall tales about the one that got away and prove your worth as a master angler at Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournament (October 24–28). You’ll discover why fishermen the world over consider the region’s marlin one of the most challenging catches ever.

Baja’s fishing bounty doesn’t end there by any stretch. The East Cape Dorado Shoot Out (July) is a mid-summer tournament that gathers over 125 teams vying for a hefty purse. You have a whole year to prepare for the next one, so no excuses!

In the mood for some smooth sailing? Why not? The Baja Ha-Ha (October 29–November 11) has more than a catchy name going for it: This 750 mile cruiser rally departs from San Diego and arrives on Cabo San Lucas, with stops at Bahia Tortuga and Bahia Santa Maria. If your boat is over 27 feet you should definitely try this one out.

The Open Road…and Water

OK, athletes, time to get serious: The Ironman Los Cabos (November 12) will put your stamina and training regime to the test with a well-planned course that starts on a 2.4 mile wetsuit swim, follows through with 112 miles of hilly terrain for the cycling stretch and finishes with a demanding marathon under the unforgiving sun. Fret not, a well-staffed team of volunteers and the cheering crowds will make it all worth your while. Show us what you’re made of!

Running enthusiasts will cherish the opportunity of racing the sun itself at the Los Cabos Marathon (January), where a spectacular route guides them through Baja’s picturesque landscape, all the way to a finish line that frames a perfect sunset.

Swinging and Off-Roading

Pack up your clubs and prepare yourself for a unique experience in one of the world’s top golf courses at the Los Cabos Pro-Am Tournament (January 15–19), held at picturesque Cabo del Sol. This enjoyable tourney will host its 10th edition on 2018, and the impressive layout of the Jack Nicklaus-designed Ocean course will bring out the best in your game.

Of course, a Baja experience would be somehow incomplete without the thunderous roar of motorsports shattering the serene desert air. You’ll get the full blown, high-octane treatment at the 50th SCORE Baja 1000 (November 14–18), the iconic off-road race that goes from Ensenada to La Paz. As the fans themselves will tell you: “Asphalt is for the weak, dirt is for racing!”

This is just a small sample of Cabo’s rich sporting menu, but we’re always adding new events to the list. Keep up with the news, we’ll save you a seat.
